I would like to nominate Deandre Samples, a Parent Coach that I supervise at the Power of Two Bronx Office. Deandre is an Infant/Toddler Coach who currently works with foster and community families implementing the ABC Program (Attachment & Bio-Behavioral Catch Up), a program that helps Caregivers and their children have a better bond with each other. Deandre has made a difference in the lives of all the families he has worked with, he has shown Caregivers how to be more nurturing, follow their child’s lead and to avoid frightening behaviors. Deandre has been more than a Parent Coach to his families, he’s the support his families need when they are feeling overwhelmed but most important — he is the light at the end of the tunnel for some of his families. The families that Deandre has worked with only have kind words to say about him, one Caregiver saying that Deandre is her “Guardian Angel”. Families have stated that Deandre has changed their lives for the better and are very grateful for the time they have spent with Deandre during their ABC sessions. Whether it was an in person or virtual session, Deandre has made a difference and a positive impact in his family’s lives! Deandre aims to be the best he can be in his role as a Parent Coach, he always leads with his heart, he is compassionate, caring and the most kind hearted person you will ever meet. Deandre honestly loves and enjoys the work he does, he always shows up with a smile on his face and ready to give his families 100%. It’s not about a paycheck for Deandre, for him it’s more about the positive outcomes he sees in the children he works with in the ABC Program.  I’m honored to know Deandre, to have him on my team and to closely work with him but to also call him my friend — Deandre is definitely a Bright Light in every child he has and presently works with… It is my pleasure to nominate Deandre Samples as a Bright Light!
