Through this training, participants will learn to create an ambiance-of -safety for supervision that encourages open sharing, exploration of therapeutic failures and successes and how to achieve the best with families—in short, an atmosphere where clinicians can do their best thinking.  Concepts such as   ‘use of self’ and parallel process are integral to reflective supervision and will come alive, real and usable in your therapeutic work with clients. The instructor will guide participants in the practice and use of the reflective supervision skills of listening at the level of the active brain system, culturally curious inquiry, creating a shared agenda, and strengthening self-understanding to advance problem solving. Supervisors will learn how this approach can help them remain emotionally well-resourced in order to manage the challenge of meeting both the administrative and relational needs of staff in complex interpersonal work. Through the use of lecture, role play and small group discussion, this training will support the growing knowledge and skills of infant mental health professionals in the foundational elements and practical application of Reflective Supervision.
