The relationships between professionals and families is central to the work we do whether we work in early intervention, parent/child groups, child care/preschool programs or home visiting. This workshop will offer a variety of perspectives on establishing and maintaining positive relationships with the families in our community.

Our session begins with a presentation by Bonnie Kielty, author of two books on family/professional relationships in early intervention, who will focus on building on family strengths. Next, Ashley Cattaneo will discuss her work in child care, the NYC Department of Education, and early intervention programs from the perspective of how we negotiate our own identities and their intersection with families. Finally, a panel including our featured speakers; a parent (Masayo Douglas) whose own children were in early intervention and who now is a translator during evaluations; and two additional interventionists (Susan Rabinowicz and Richard Kahn) will continue the discussion and offer insights and experiences from the field.

This event is free for current NYZTT and NYSAIMH members and $15 for non-members. Please register/purchase tickets to this event by following the link below.
